Attending, exhibiting or working at a conference can be a bit overwhelming. The day starts early and by 11:00AM you are usually thinking about taking a break and getting a bite to eat. Imagine the surprise when attendees realized that Cottonwood Tucson’s Chef Serna was prepared not only to talk about eating healthy in recovery, but to demonstrate fabulous recipes and treat the workshop attendees to a four course mini-lunch taste treat!  Chef Serna and his Sous Chef Stacey Wunder shared with the attendees the passion, skill and dedication they provide every day when preparing exceptional meals for Cottonwood‘s patients.

Cook and dine to the music of life…and yes you can Go Your Own Way!

Today we are sharing a little “home” movie (aka YouTube video) taken during the Eating Healthy in Recovery Workshop. You will notice just as Chef Serna begins to explain the ingredients for Italian Gazpacho, the conference planners decided to loudly play some music. Yes, that would be a recording of Fleetwood Mac performing “Go Your Own Way” that you hear in the background for a minute or so!

If you are having trouble viewing the video, you can view it here.

A goal of wellness

Wellness is the goal; it encompasses creating a balanced lifestyle which focuses on emotional, physical, social and spiritual dimensions creating a balance and harmony. Nourishment, along with good nutrition, is just one important component in recovery; it is interconnected with every aspect of overall health and wellness. And the miracle of recovery flourishes with the first step and one day at a time.
